  26.    "Why a CD-ROM for DOOM?" you may ask. Well, when the game was released 
  27.    last winter, nobody had expected such an amazing feedback. Soon 
  28.    after the initial release programers from all over the world started
  29.    programming utilities for editing levels, graphics and sounds for DOOM.
  30.    
  31.    As I stumbled through several bulletin board systems, I saw hundreds
  32.    of levels and add-on programs for DOOM. After testing some of them, I
  33.    was really surprised by the outstanding qualitiy of the products some
  34.    private programmers and artists created.
  35.  
  36.    Realising that all this stuff would fill more than 80 high density
  37.    disks (still in compressed form) we decided find publish a CD-ROM
  38.    with this stuff on it.
  39.  
  40.    So, here it is! This CD-ROM features more than 900 new levels, 234 
  41.    programs, 68 additional sound files, 45 text files and 43 new graphic 
  42.    packages.

  44.    As an addition, this CD-ROM is BBS aware, ready with a detailed FILES.BBS
  45.    file so you can directly access it.
  46.    
  47.    As a bonus this CD also contains the latest version of the compression
  48.    programs ARJ and PKZIP.

  53.    We compiled FOUR 27 level sets especially for Doom-2, at the time of
  54.    editing these are the ONLY add-on levels for Doom-2 available.

  96.       This directory contains new graphics for DOOM. Usually, these 
  97.       packages have an installation program with them. See the enclosed
  98.       documentation in the corresponding directory on more information
  99.       how to use these programs.

  102.       LEVELS:

  105.       Here you find over 100ß0 directories with new levels and / or
  106.       movie files.
  107.  
  108.       How to install a new level: First, copy the level file(s) to your
  109.       DOOM directory. Now, read the enclosed documentation for the level
  110.       number. This is needed because those files normally just replace
  111.       a single level. As you know, DOOM has 3 episodes with 9 levels
  112.       each. So check for the episode and level number and then run DOOM
  113.       using a command line like this:
  114.       
  115.       DOOM -file xxx.wad
  116.       
  117.       where xxx ist the name of your external level. Once you're in DOOM,
  118.       select New Game and choose the desired episode and - there you are.      
  119.       If the level is deeper inside that episode, you have to play until
  120.       you reach it or you have to warp to it. See the DOOMFAQ56 in the
  121.       "TEXT" directory for more information on it.

  123.       If you want to play a recorded movie, just do it like this:

  125.       DOOM -playdemo xxx.lmp
  126.  
  127.       where xxx is the name of the movie to play.
